When it comes to sex, women and girls sometimes ‘play hard to get’ and say ‘no’ when they really mean ‘yes’.

This is just one of many common rape and sexual assault myths that many young people can live believing is true. Some of the others that are commonly come across can be found here

Why talk about this? Because teaching about what consent is, why it’s essential and the language of good consent helps young people understand their rights but also their responsibilities when placing sex in a relationship. Discussing consent gives young people important building blocks in forming a healthy relationship, whether now or in the future.

Amplifyouth is able to offer lessons around this, if you wish to have support or help unpacking this topic with young people.
